Brightening Peach Cream
Hydroquinone is a topical skin-lightening agent used to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, such as dark spots. Hydroquinone works by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase, which is involved in the production of melanin (the pigment that gives skin its color). By reducing melanin production, hydroquinone helps to lighten darker areas of the skin.1
Apply a small amount of hydroquinone cream twice a day to the darkened area and rub it in until it is absorbed. Do not apply hydroquinone to broken skin or inside the anus. Common side effects may include mild skin irritation, redness, and dryness. If you experience severe burning, stinging, or itching, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider. Prolonged use of hydroquinone can lead to a condition called ochronosis, which causes blue-black pigmentation. Use hydroquinone only for the duration recommended by your healthcare provider.
